Please meet Tonka who is about 7 years old and is a small breed ex stud dog who has not had a good life so far. He arrived into our care shut down with severe dental issues which had been left uncared for for years. After emergency surgery he was left with only 3 teeth. He had ongoing stomach issues due to continuous infections from his mouth and was underweight and had not been socialised. He has been neutured, vaccinated, wormed and flea treated and was in shock with all this happening in his first few weeks of arrival but he has forgiven us and has become a different dog now. His health issues have all been taken care of and he is looking for his forever home. Tonka needs to be with another dog to continue to learn what life is all about and give continued confidence. He is on a soft natural diet and he loves his food now. He recently started to learn what play is with his foster pal Betty Boo and it is so rewarding to see him doing this. He has started now to go for walks but can be barky, as the big outside world for a little lad like him can be scary, but he gains his confidence from being with one of his foster pals. He likes his warm snuggle place next to you and a fuss but is not a lap dog. He now also likes to cuddle with his other foster pals. He hates crates but has come on in leaps and bounds living in a home. He does still have the occasional little accident but has never been house-trained, so that is to be expected. He can be left for a couple of hours. He will need grooming, as his fur which we had to shave off is now growing back. He is getting used to having a soft brush on him now and, although not fond of them, will have a bath. He has not lived with cats or young children.

Tonka is looking for an understanding loving home with a family with older children 10+ who will continue to teach him life can be good. He needs to be with another small confident dog who will be his friend in all his new adventures. He will need a secure garden and owners who will not be out leaving him for hours on end.
